This is a co-op posting between Christopher ,a teacher at my school, LEXIS,
and I. Actually he'd rather call this post ''It's all your fuckin' fault'',but I put my foot down and stopped him just in time! We wrote this together in a fit of inspiration and then we added a quote from my favourite poet Khalil Gibran on Crime and Punishment and a quote from Christopher's book.

You are to blame for everything that goes wrong in this world. For every little or big crime ever commited. You are the cause for all the world's evils. You, I, everyone. You are the cause of the economic crisis, the state of your health, the state of your finances, and the Nation's Treasury, famine in Africa, theft of aboriginal lands, the state of your love life. Because you are everything and everything is you. Because we are all us and there is no separation or sense of being apart in this universe.
So start developing a sense of self responsibility. You want us out of the economic crisis? Manage your own finances better. You want world wide peace? Get along better with your neighbour. You want a better love life? Satisfy the one that you're with more than wanting to satisfy yourself.

The Merva-Fowles study, done at the University of Utah in the 1990's found powerful connections between unemployment and crime. They conducted their research in 30 major urban areas with a population of over 80 million. The studies findings found that a 1% rise in unemployment resulted in:
a 6.7% increase in homicides
a 3.4 % increase in violent crimes
a 2.4 % increase in property crime
During the period from 1990 to 1992, this translated into:
1459 additional homicides
62,607 additional violent crimes
223,500 additional property crimes
If you were to take a well-to-do, ethical, person, strip them of their wealth and resources and drop them into a poor city with nothing but the shirt on their back, there is a very high probability that this person will begin to lie, cheat and steal in order to survive. It's not a surprise that the poorest neighborhoods in the U.S. has the highest crime rates. A person born into a deprived environment, with little resources, poor education and few opportunities for work will do whatever the fuck they need to do in order to survive. The point here is that economic scarcity creates this kind of behavior.
Corporate crime is profit related and takes many forms. Planned obsolescence, market manipulation, outsourcing, price fixing, monopolistic collusion, labor exploitation and governmental collusion are just a few. With everything from Enron’s deliberate shutting down of California’s power plants to boost its stocks, to the Bayer Corporation’s knowing distribution of HIV tainted drugs, it should be clear to most people that corporate crime is constant and often times more insidious than general crime because the repercussions affect very large groups of people.
The fucking corporate criminal’s or what I like to call them, the puppet masters, need to secure a business’s profitability, is no different, in a way, than the general criminal’s need to survive. While the latter commits crimes to live, the former commits crimes to further secure their positions of power, lifestyle and wealth. It's based on fear, the notion of greed, which manifests from a perpetual insecurity derived from the fear of losing what the fuckers has and serves as the prime motivating factor for most corporate crimes.
Government Crime is the most complex and difficult forms of crime to think of because of the people's perception of government is highly reinforced by the prevailing values its “ruling class” perpetuates through the use of mass media. An example is, if we look back at the horrors of Hitler, many forget that many of the German people had the same anti-semitic value system, propagated by the regime through pamphlets and broadcasts. The same can be said for the U.S. invasion of Iraq, which was fuelled initially by public support, simply because of the hate and fear of so called “Islamic terrorists”, generated by the controlled demolition of the World Trade Center by the U.S. government and their masters in New York City on September 11th 2001.
